The collective name for Aristotle's six logical treatises. The Categories classifies the kinds of things that can be said; On Interpretation treats propositions and their contradictories; the Prior Analytics sets out the syllogism; the Posterior Analytics describes demonstrative knowledge from first principles; the Topics teaches dialectical argument; and the Sophistical Refutations catalogues fallacies. Together they founded formal logic.
