Seven lectures written in 1932 as a sequel to the Introductory Lectures, never delivered because cancer had taken Freud's voice. They revise the theory of dreams, present the structural model of id, ego and superego, discuss anxiety, femininity and the drives, and close with a defence of the scientific worldview against religion and philosophy. Lecture 31 contains the famous formula "where id was, there ego shall be".
